The photos that we hand over to you, our clients, are a part of our life’s work. It has our name or branding (logo) on them so there are a few important restrictions to note when it comes to the professional digital images that you receive.
Copyright. The digital images that we provide to you have a copyright; which means that we have the option to use those photos to market our work and services anytime in the future. We are, however, extremely respectful of you, our clients, so if there is any image that you would prefer to keep private, it’s best to let us know about it ahead of time so that we can honour your wishes.
Image Type. We are not able to provide you with the original files; otherwise known as the RAW images. All images given to you have been cropped, edited and prepared for printing in standard sizes according to NightinGail Photography’s professional standards. If you do require further touch-ups, we would be happy to do this and quotes are prepared on a per image basis.
Image Altering. While we appreciate your business and welcome the sharing of photos on social media platforms, we ask that the images not be altered in any way as this is against our copyright policies.
What constitutes image altering?
- Adding filters or editing photos in Photoshop or any other photo editing software including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
- Removing our logo or studio name.
- Colour correcting or including transitions from colour to black & white or sepia, etc.
- Clipping people or objects out of the original shot
- Adding people into a copy of the original image
- Combining digital images for a panorama
So why do we have image altering as a restriction? Our photographs are a representation of our work so when a client alters an image, it directly impacts our name and brand int he industry. When we present you with the final images, every image has already been through our editing process and do not require any further alterations. When images are altered, the results are not always reflective of our original work and can be mistaken for our’s. We greatly appreciate your loyalty and cooperation in this matter.
We are always happy to provide you with a quote if there is some specific editing required to an image.
In the social media world, it has become just too easy for images to show up on Facebook or Instagram and look nothing like the fine art quality that was provided to you, our clients.
Thanks so much for your business and support. Looking forward to working again with all of you this year!
