NightinGail Photography had the most fabulous time photographing our clients, Melissa and Johnny, over the last year for their Four Seasons Signature Guest Book. We started out with a spring session in Mississauga at the Japanese Gardens, on to a summer session at Wasaga Beach with their “boys” in tow, the wonderful fall session in Burlington and finally their winter session at the Cranberry Resort, Collingwood at Beare Estateswhere they will be declaring their love for each other on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

They have chosen a more modern 10 x 10 yearbook design for their album so without further ado, here is their final product.

Their album combines their selection of favourites from the four engagement sessions to tell their story of the year before their wedding in pictures.

Welcome Riley John Cameron-Cole

Our long-awaited arrival, Riley John Cameron-Cole made his first appearance on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at 6:20 p.m. weighing in at 8 pounds 3 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Riley has big blue eyes, dark brown hair, his mommy (Brandi)’s nose, and his daddy (Shaun)”s BIG feet and hands.

Grandpa and Grandma Kenney couldn’t wait to get down to Brantford to meet the latest addition to our clan so without further ado, here is Riley John….

We spent the afternoon cuddling our new grandson and enjoying spending time with our family. Congratulations to Brandi’s side of the family – Gramma Brenda & Granpa Cecil (I photographed their wedding three years ago) and Auntie Kendra. We are thrilled to be a part of their family now as well.

Riley is the 6th great-great grandchild for Gerald Swan of Trenton, Ontario. Great-great Grandpa is looking forward to meeting our latest addition in June when we will be celebrating his 105th birthday on June 10th. Riley is warmly welcomed by all of the Swan and Martin clan.

Another special note – Riley shares his birthday with his first cousin, Lincoln Zaremba, who turned 3 on March 5th. Auntie Jenn and Lincoln will also be looking forward to welcoming our latest addition to the Kenney family as well.

A Winter E-Session at Cranberry Resort, Collingwood, ON

I have had the pleasure of photographing Melissa and John’s four-season engagement sessions throughout 2009 with the final session being on February 13, 2010 (the day before Valentine’s Day). We met up with them in the late afternoon to have our last bit of fun with them before I start designing their custom Signature Guestbook for their fabulous upcoming wedding at Bear Estates, Collingwood in August!

It was cold and windy but everyone took it in stride so here are just a few of my favs from the afternoon!

After freezing out butts off outside, it was back inside for tea and the warm fire!

Thanks, Melissa & John, for being such good sports about the cold weather and taking it easy on my recovery time.

As most of you know (and we so appreciate all of the calls, e-mails and other nice things from from clients, friends and family), my husband and I were involved in a car accident on January 3, 2010. We were were fortunate and were not seriously hurt. Of course, Don’s truck got the worst of it — turned out to be a write-off) There were no other vehicles involved even though we did a couple of 360s from the right hand lane on the 400 going north and ended up into the guardrail facing south in the northbound lane. Fortunately, there was no other cars near us during the skid. Black ice is a very very scary experience and even though we were travelling less that 40km per hour due to the conditions, the feeling of having absolutely no control was frightening beyond belief.

I really want to thank the “good samaritan” in the big black SUV who pulled over to keep other vehicles from running into us. As well, the OPP officer who was so quick on the scene. I also really want to publicly thank our tow-truck driver, Rick! He got us out of the guardrail, hooked up and out of danger very quickly. (We forgot to tell him the our dog, Leo, was in the cab of the truck) and poor guy – Leo – not Rick, tried to keep him from tying up the steering wheel. Rick went above and beyond the call of duty by hauling us down to Hwy 9 for the collision reporting centre (at the Park and Ride) – there were a lot of accidents on the 400 on January 3rd. Instead of dropping us off there and leaving us to our own devices to get home, he drove us home with the truck so we could unload after the New Year’s holiday. Thanks and big cudos to him and Advanced Towing out of Alliston.

The long and the short of the story – I’ve had whiplash and a concussion (bumped my head on the passenger side window) - and have been unble to really work on any of NightinGail’s outstanding assignments. I appreciate all of my clients’ understanding about the delays in delivery. I will be getting back to working on the albums, photo sessions and shoots starting next week.

And on top of this, my mother-in-law is now in the hospital. She suffered a more severe stroke last Tuesday and is currently resting comfortably at North York General. She has wonderful nurses and doctors who are doing everything that they can but the prognosis is not good. She has not been well for some time with limited eyesight and mobility and has suffered a series of small strokes over the past few months. We are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst which is all we can do at this time. Your prayers for the family during the next few days and weeks would be most appreciated.

And just because blogs should have photos – and my mother-in-law loves all types of animals — here is Magic (one of my special animal friends from a wedding this summer).. this is for you, Mary Elizabeth!

Going Green For Christmas!

A couple of weeks ago, NightinGail had the opportunity to photography Melissa & John’s third e-session at Bronte Creek Park in Oakville, ON. What a beautiful location for fall photographs! We got to go out and play in the beautiful autumn sunshine. Also as a special assistant for the day, my husband Don, came along.

Winners of our Pink Initiative – Canadian Breast Cancer Golf Tourney Certificate — The Logans

NightinGail Photography was approached in March 2009 by Sarah Misseri who, along with her mother, host a golf tournament to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We were asked if we would like to provide an item for the raffle table as part of this worthy cause.

Congratulations! Our lucky winners were the Logan family from Bowmanville, ON and they received a two hour on-location portrait session with a 16×20 Canvas Fine Art print as well as their private on-line viewing gallery. As Tim and Rachel had just had a new baby boy around the time of the golf tourney, they wanted to wait until the baby got a bit older so we photographed their beautiful family in October at High Park, Toronto which is a fabulous location for any kind of portraits. Tim and Rachel were also married in the fall so having their family portraits taken in the autumn was also very special.

We had a wonderful time together – playing and photographing – at various locations in High Park. Their boys were absolutely precious and without further ado, here are just a few of my favourites from this Fall Portrait session.

It is so important to make sure that families record those special moments in photographs. Stephanie & Scott – Married {Sneak Peeks}

Thank you, Stephanie & Scott, for providing us with the fabulous opportunity to photograph your wedding at a brand-new venue for NightinGail – Kings Riding Golf Club in Aurora, ON. What a beautiful setting for an October wedding.

We started off the day at the Best Western Hotel in Newmarket meeting with Stephanie, her maids and family for the bridal prep session. We were actually able to capture a few of Scott while he was getting ready before he had to make a ‘fast’ exit with his boys so we could get Stephanie outside for some fun in the sun.

Their ceremony was performed by one of our favourite officiants, Rev. Steven Ongo, who is just a delight to work with and customizes his ceremonies to suit his clients just as he did for Stephanie & Scott. If you are looking for an officiant with a phenomenal sense of humour, you need to get in touch with Rev. Steven!

Stephanie & Scott got right into the swing of things and we just had a ball capturing their day. After all, NightinGail is the “photographer for happy people” and we are definitely “passionate about weddings.” We absolutely adore capturing those intimate moments when our couples don’t think there is a camera within shooting distance… ahaaa.. gotch ya!

The interior of Kings Riding Golf club is stunning with a lot of nooks, fabulous furniture, colours and decor for creating beautiful wedding images.

My second shooter, Michelle, and I had an interesting experience at this wedding.. we had to be rescued by the matron of honour when our golf cart broke down during the photo shoot out on the links. A first for us, but great fun!

Bradley & Meghan – Married [Sneak Peeks]

NightinGail had the awesome responsibility of photographing Bradley & Meghan’s “fun and frolic” intimate wedding recently in the beautiful cottage-country town of Haliburton, ON.

I met Bradley and Meghan just a couple of weeks before their wedding and durimng our initial consultation, it became really apparent that this terrific couple were so much in love with each other and with the great outdoors! Because of their love of cottage country, they selected to hold their ceremony at the Wigamog Inn which is an absolutely beautiful old country inn. After the ceremony, we popped down the road to the Willow Beach Cottages for some fun in the sun portraits. There were so many phenomenal images from their day I have selected just a few of my favourites of this amazing autumn wedding.

Bradley & Meghan chose the Thanksgiving weekend to “get hitched” because they were so very thankful for their families and wanted all to share in their day.

Learning from the Best

Bambi Cantrell, at the request of Glen Flett, came to Burlington, ON this past Monday for a workshop. As soon as I heard that she was coming, I knew that I had to be there. Bambi is one of the world’s most recognized wedding and portrait photographers and her style has been admired by many including me for many years. I have attended a webinar that she put on last fall and it was something that really changed my approach to photographing people. Having the chance to watch Bambi photograph and have her explain how to see the light, how she works when photographing a wedding, what she looks for for those extraordinary images and then actually having her help me with some posing, share her methods and business practices… well, I came away with my mind absolutely reeling and wanting to shoot a wedding like the next day!!!

We had a fabulous model (Glen’s receptionist – Laura) who really got into the swing of having ten photographers all taking photos at the same time. Laura was amazing and came through the afternoon session with unimaginable grace and good sportsmanship!

And being Bambi’s NUMBER ONE fan, I just had to have a photo taken with her. She was so gracious and allowed us to all have a photo with her if we wanted to.

In addition, I met a number of new photographer friends who came from as far away as Buckhorn, Ottawa, and even Hong Kong. It was a pleasure to meet all of you and I really look forward to chatting with you on FB or Twitter.

A Thanksgiving 50th Birthday at Deerhurst Resort, Huntsville, ON

NightinGail was contacted by the sister of the birthday boy about a week before the planned birthday party which they were having on the Sunday of the Thanksgving Weekend. Arlene was enthralled by our images through the link that Deerhurst has (NightinGail Photography is a preferred vendor). As it happened, we were already at our cottage after photographing a wedding at the Nottawasaga Inn the day before so it was a quick jump over to Deerhurst on Sunday.

The purpose for the session was to have the family together and take some portraits as most people let time slip by without documenting these important moments. As well, the birthday boy and his “love” are in the process of merging their families and moving into a new home sometime in the spring. What a great opportunity to get those beautiful wall canvases for their new home of their new family.

Here are just a few of my favs from their session — the weather was wonderful and a good time was had by all!

Katie & Justin – Married – Sneak Peeks….

NightinGail had the priviledge of photographing Katie & Justin’s wedding in Muskoka at the beginning of October at one of our favourite resorts, Deerhurst! Thanks, Jodi (their awesome coordinator) who put our engagement photo of them on their leader board!

It was an absolutely awesome day that ran the whole gamut of the weather – sunny and warm, overcast and cool, cloudy and cold — throw in some rain, hail and one of the most phenomenal skies with a rainbow during their photo session at the Renwick cottage.

What a wonderful opportunity to photograph this fabulous couple who are so much in love and to be a part of their very special day with all of their family and friends.
