I had the opportunity yesterday to go out and spend the afternoon with my niece, Jamie.  We had been chatting last week and she really wanted to get some urban photos done (meaning something with the graffitti walls) and since Jane & Kale’s wedding, I knew EXACTLY where we were going to go.   

It was a beautiful afternoon to be outside and here are just a few of my favs from the afternoon.

I was contacted last fall by Karyn P. (Lina & Tim’s daughter-in-law) and a friend from our People’s Church days about taking some photos of her in-laws. The family wanted to do something different for them for Christmas so they purchased an on-location portrait session Gift Certificate as their gift.

Lina and Tim have a wonderful garden, full of beautiful flowers and atmosphere — a perfect place for an early morning summer portrait. I arrived at their home on Friday morning, was warmly welcomed, and during our chatting while I was preparing for their session, learned that their wedding anniversary was on Sunday. Congratulations on your many, many years together.

They were just a dream couple to photograph so here are just a couple of my favs..

After the session, we had coffee and wonderful Greek cookies. I also heard all about Karyn & John and the accomplishments of their daughter, Niccoda, and son, Aiden. (They were just babies the last time I saw them.) Lina and Tim are so proud of their grandchildren and their entire family.

Kaley and Jamie booked NightinGail Photography for their July 2011 wedding in late 2009. We had planned to photograph their engagement photos earlier this year but congratulations turned out to be in order. Jamie & Kaley welcomed baby Lillian into their family five weeks before our scheduled photo session.

We had a beautiful afternoon for their portrait session and with great help from one of their friends who sat and played with Lillian once her first photo session was completed, we had a great deal of fun at one of our favourite locations for portraits — Sunnydale Park in Barrie.

We were thrilled to photograph Cindy and Frank along with their boys, David and Wade, at Allen Gardens in Toronto, Ontario recently. We met Cindy & Frank earlier this year when they started to plan their July wedding in Cobourg, ON and are really looking forward to being a part of their big day at Dalewood Golf & Country Club.

We had such fun with this great family so here are a few of my personal favourites:

We love to photograph in this beautiful indoor garden, especially in the early spring when it’s cold outside! And it was a great pleasure getting to know this entire family better. Wade & David were absolutely the best during the portrait session — so thanks!!

NightinGail Photography was approached in March 2009 by Sarah Misseri who, along with her mother, host a golf tournament to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We were asked if we would like to provide an item for the raffle table as part of this worthy cause.

Congratulations! Our lucky winners were the Logan family from Bowmanville, ON and they received a two hour on-location portrait session with a 16×20 Canvas Fine Art print as well as their private on-line viewing gallery. As Tim and Rachel had just had a new baby boy around the time of the golf tourney, they wanted to wait until the baby got a bit older so we photographed their beautiful family in October at High Park, Toronto which is a fabulous location for any kind of portraits. Tim and Rachel were also married in the fall so having their family portraits taken in the autumn was also very special.

We had a wonderful time together – playing and photographing – at various locations in High Park. Their boys were absolutely precious and without further ado, here are just a few of my favourites from this Fall Portrait session.

Thank you, Stephanie & Scott, for providing us with the fabulous opportunity to photograph your wedding at a brand-new venue for NightinGail – Kings Riding Golf Club in Aurora, ON. What a beautiful setting for an October wedding.

We started off the day at the Best Western Hotel in Newmarket meeting with Stephanie, her maids and family for the bridal prep session. We were actually able to capture a few of Scott while he was getting ready before he had to make a ‘fast’ exit with his boys so we could get Stephanie outside for some fun in the sun.

Their ceremony was performed by one of our favourite officiants, Rev. Steven Ongo, who is just a delight to work with and customizes his ceremonies to suit his clients just as he did for Stephanie & Scott.  If you are looking for an officiant with a phenomenal sense of humour, you need to get in touch with Rev. Steven!

Stephanie & Scott got right into the swing of things and we just had a ball capturing their day. After all, NightinGail is the “photographer for happy people” and we are definitely “passionate about weddings.”  We absolutely adore capturing those intimate moments when our couples don’t think there is a camera within shooting distance… ahaaa.. gotch ya! 

The interior of Kings Riding Golf club is stunning with a lot of nooks, fabulous furniture, colours and decor for creating beautiful wedding images.

My second shooter, Michelle, and I had an interesting experience at this wedding.. we had to be rescued by the matron of honour when our golf cart broke down during the photo shoot out on the links. A first for us, but great fun!

NightinGail was contacted by the sister of the birthday boy about a week before the planned birthday party which they were having on the Sunday of the Thanksgving Weekend.  Arlene was enthralled by our images through the link that Deerhurst has (NightinGail Photography is a preferred vendor).  As it happened, we were already at our cottage after photographing a wedding at the Nottawasaga Inn the day before so it was a quick jump over to Deerhurst on Sunday.

The purpose for the session was to have the family together and take some portraits as most people let time slip by without documenting these important moments.  As well, the birthday boy and his “love” are in the process of merging their families and moving into a new home sometime in the spring.  What a great opportunity to get those beautiful wall canvases for their new home of their new family.

I’ve been so busy with E-Sessions, weddings and client consults, my blogging is a little behind. We had a blast photographing them in one of our “secret” spots for engagement sessions in Barrie. We had a nice walk down the trail and over the bridge to the beach.

We are very excited about photographing their wedding this coming August. Here are a “few” of NightinGail’s favs (not in any particular order) from their session last week.

And of course, us being those non-instrusive Canadians, nobody in the restaurant went up and asked for autographs or did anything but sneak glances at them. Anyway.. no photos of them but given all the times we have had dinner there over the years, this is the first time that we’ve ever seen them .. sort of up close and personal.

There were some media types there and I guess they were there for a story and photo op. Maybe we’ll see the details of the party with images in the Barrie Advance or the Toronto Star. I’m not sure who the reporters were — just three gorgeous blondes tho’.

Maybe next time, I’ll get up enough nerve to ask for an autograph and a photo op for NightinGail.

What a fabulous afternoon for Melissa & John’s first engagement session. We selected Kariya Park in Mississauga for the variety of backgrounds and areas for photos. Melissa and John are getting married in August 2010 and have selected a “Four Season” signature guest book as part of their package. This choice allows four engagement sessions (spring, summer, fall and winter) and we will be photographing them at a different location for each season.

As you can see, we had a blast.

And on a personal note, while Don and I were waiting for Melissa & John to arrive, we watched an elderly couple try to parallel park their car and he ran into mine. Of course, he was insistent that he didn’t hit it … looking at his car, he does this alot (black paint on the front bumper, scratches and dents with green and red paint on the side, just to mention a few.) Fortunately it was a small bump and no real damage to “Hilda the Honda”…

I would like to congratulate the 1st winner from M.O.P.S. – Lynda Burton from Thornton, Ontario. She was the lucky winner of one of our three mini-portrait sessions sponsored by the Mothers-of-Pre-Schoolers group at our church. My friend, Daniella, had approached me about donating some photography services and I was more than happy to be able to give these sessions to some deserving “moms.” Anyway, Lynda is a cancer survivor (which is also one of my pet charities) and contacted NightinGail right away to book her session. We selected to do the shoot on Mother’s Day as it is a very special day for Lynda and her family – (husband – Fraser and daughter -Madeleine.)

Madeleine was an absolute sweetheart and was quick to inform me that if she was good, she was going to have jelly-beans. When I asked her if she was going to have a lot of the candy, she, matter of factly, said, “No – only 2 jellybeans!”

Alise contacted me about a week before their first year anniversary. She popped by the studio and we had a nice chat. She was looking for something different for an anniversary gift for A.J. and decided that our photography style was just what she was looking for. We booked their session and set out for Heritage Park in Barrie. In spite of the construction and lack of flowers (it’s a bit early), we had a blast down at the waterfront. Here are a few of my fav’s from their session.

I was recently at a workshop with Johan Sorenson (a great Toronto photographer.. in my opinion) which gave me a chance to learn some new techniques and capture some new images for NightinGail’s portrait portfolio. A great day .. in spite of me getting lost inside Humber .. trying to find the workshop … then thinking I lost my cell phone and being in a panic!!! Which turned out to be .. NOT!!

Well, I woke up on Saturday morning to a blizzard!! Snow and bad roads but we packed up our gear, loaded up the dog (Leo, for those who don’t know our little lion), and headed down the 400 to the 407 and then off to Guelph for a brother and sister photo session. Stef had also asked us to take a few photos of her boyfriend, Scott as well. We were really looking forward to it in spite of the cold weather.

And, wouldn’t you know, Don and I were chatting and I missed the turn so ended up taking the scenic route out to Guelph and we made it!! Only 5 minutes late — on the coldest day of spring EVER!

Everyone was fabulous and all of the participants were great! Thanks to Stef, Andrew and Scott. As you can see from they were even willing to take off their coats for me! Now are they great clients or what!!!

After the session, Don and I popped off to have lunch with our friend, Kevin. He’s doing well and I can’t believe that his oldest is now 13!! We did a little shopping as our afternoon portrait appointment cancelled due to the cold weather and the baby was ill. We are really looking forward to photographing the family of Rob & Rhonda Alarie (married and photographed in 2007).
